Notice of Proposed Property Taxes (TRIM Notice)

In August of each year, the Manatee County Property Appraiser’s office sends a Notice of Proposed Property Taxes, (Truth in Millage or “TRIM” Notice) to all property owners. The TRIM Notice includes:
  • Taxable value, classification, exemptions, and assessment limitation/cap as of January 1.
  • Proposed budget and millage rate to fund the budget for each taxing authority, and the amount of property taxes the property owner would owe if adopted by the taxing authority.
  • Rolled-back millage rate, which is generally the amount of property taxes the property owner would owe if there were no change to the taxing authority’s budget.
  • Non-ad valorem assessments for roads, fire, garbage, lighting, drainage, water, sewer, or other governmental services and facilities that may be levied by your county, city, or any special district (if applicable).
  • Meeting date, time, and location for each taxing authority’s public hearing.
We encourage property owners to contact our office with any questions on the TRIM Notice, such as market value, classification, and exemptions. If we are unable to resolve the matter, you may file a petition for adjustment with the Manatee County Value Adjustment Board. The deadline for filing a petition is 4:30 PM on the 25th day from the date of the TRIM Notice. The exact deadline date will be printed on your TRIM Notice.
